NEW STANTON, PA: The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission will be closing the Turnpike in both directions between the Irwin (Exit 67) and New Stanton (Exit 75) starting at 12:01 a.m. through 5 a.m. on Sun., Jan. 17, weather permitting. The closure is needed to set concrete beams for an overhead bridge at MP 69.2, which is east of the Irwin Exit, as part of the ongoing total reconstruction and widening of the 8-mile stretch of Turnpike mainline in that area.

Message boards will be placed to inform customers of the closure, and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) broadcasts at station 1640 AM also are being used to inform travelers.

Westbound drivers will be advised to exit at New Stanton (Exit #75) take Route 119 North to Toll 66 North to Exit #6 - Route 30 West and reenter the Turnpike at Irwin (Exit #67).

Eastbound drivers will be advised to exit at Irwin (Exit #67) and take Route 30 East to Toll 66 South to Exit 0B and reenter the Turnpike at New Stanton (Exit #75).

Expect higher traffic volumes on detour roads during the closure.

Alternate-route cards will be available to exiting travelers in the cash lanes at the Irwin and New Stanton Interchanges during the closure. E-ZPass customers can obtain the detour route information in advance by visiting the Turnpike's website at www.paturnpike.com.
