10/21—Natural Gas Wells and Drinking Water, 7:00 - 9:00 PM, Shohola Township Municipal Building, 159 Twin Lakes Road, Shohola, PA. The program is free, but pre-registration is required by October 17. Topics include: gas well drilling basics; how gas wells can impact groundwater wells; regulations to protect private wells; potential water pollutants; testing strategies; how to collect water samples; and interpretation of water test result. 10/22—ServSafe Food Certification or Recertification Course, Part 1, Monroe County Cooperative Extension office, 724 Phillips St, Suite 201, Stroudsburg PA 18360, 9:00 - 1:00 PM. Part 2 is on October 29 from 9:00 to 2:00 PM. The cost of the workshop is $175.00 per person (includes textbook, NRA exam & lunch on the 2nd day only) for certification; $140 for recertification (includes textbook, no exam) or $100 (with no text or exam). Examinations will be at the end of the 2nd class. Participants must attend both classes. This program will be offered in Pike County on November 2 and 9.
