HONESDALE, PA - Wayne Memorial’s Hospice Department will host two special public forums on hospice care, referrals and expectations and to introduce the hospital’s hospice team and Medical Director Dr. Robert Dohner. Moderated by Mary Lou Hoffner, RN, Wayne Memorial Hospital’s (WMH) Home Health Manager, the hospice team will identify the services they offer and their own roles for patients and families. Volunteers and families who have benefited from Wayne Memorial’s Hospice Team will also be present to tell their stories.
Everyone on the panel will be available to answer questions about medical and social services, medications, legal considerations, chaplaincy and volunteer assistance. Learn how a referral is made, who should have an advance directive, about pain management and how volunteers can help. Dr. Robert Dohner, a board-certified family practice physician, is also accredited in hospice and palliative medicine. He currently practices at The Lakewood Family Health Center, part of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers Families.
The forums will be in Wayne County on Saturday, October 31, 2009, at 10:00 AM at the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center and in Pike County on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at 6:00 PM, at the Pike County Medical Center.
