On Saturday, July 18th, 2009, the second annual Victims Awareness 5K Walk/Run will be held at the Ross U Rosencrance Memorial Park in Lackawaxen, PA. The pre-registration deadline for the event has passed, but if you didn’t pre-register, you can still participate! Just come to the park on July 18th starting at 8:45 am and register for $10 per person! The race starts at 9:30 am, and there will be giveaways for participants and awards for the top finishers. The prizes include gift certificates from the following local businesses: Peter’s Restaurant, Bar Louis, Dee Zigns Salon, Precise Hair Care, and Jen Murphy Fitness! 100% of the proceeds will benefit Safe Haven, Inc. of Pike County, a domestic violence and sexual assault crisis intervention center, so please come out, have fun, and support this great cause!

Safe Haven, Inc. of Pike County would like to thank all the local businesses that have contributed prizes to this event, as well as the event co-chairs: Bloomsburg University students Matt Brislin and Jessica Evans, and Jen Murphy, fitness instructor and owner of Jen Murphy Fitness. Matt is the event’s creator, and last year he and Jessica singlehandedly set up the walk/run because they wanted to do something meaningful to help victims. This event would not be possible without all the co-chairs’ time and dedication, and we truly appreciate all their help!

If you would like more information about this or other Safe Haven fundraising events, please call 570-296-2827.
