A discarded cigarette prompted the early-morning response of all Port Jervis Fire Department units to a city residence on Monday, May 12.
PJFD Chief Joe Kowal said a 1 ¾ inch line was used to extinguish the burning deck of the 44 Pennsylvania Avenue structure’s front porch. Damage was contained to the deck and joists of the porch.
Units were on the scene for approximately ½ hour.
