Flash Flood Warnings, Urban & Small Stream Flooding, Flood Watch and various Wind Advisories have been issued for the Tri-State Region.

A Flash flood warning has been issued for Sullivan County in New York, Pike and Wayne Counties in Pennsylvania until 7:15pm. At 4:09 pm National Weather Service doppler radar indicated an area of excessive rainfall over the warned area.

Locations in the warned area include but are not limited to Blooming Grove, Great Bend, Hawley, Honesdale, Kirkwood, Liberty, Livingston Manor, Walton and Windsor.

A line of very heavy rain will move from west to east across the warning area through 7 pm. Rainfall totals of half an inch to an inch of rain in less than an hour will cause flooding.

Water will continue to run off from the smaller streams and creeks this afternoon and tonight, moving into the larger rivers tonight, through Sunday, and into Monday. Minor flooding is possible on many area rivers and streams the rest of this weekend. Some of the smaller streams and creeks may by already experiencing moderate flooding. In addition, flooding on some roadways and as in poor drainage and low- lying areas will continue this afternoon.

Given current river forecasts, several river points in the Upper Delaware Basin are forecast to rise to near or above flood stage tonight and Sunday. Generally minor flooding is expected along these rivers. Moderate flooding will be seen at only one or two points along these rivers. In addition to this, saturated soils and melting snow pack may combine with any heavier rain showers to trigger urban flooding or flooding along smaller streams and tributaries.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. Move to higher ground.

A flood watch means that conditions are favorable for heavy rain and resultant flooding in and near the watch area. If you are at a location that is prone to flooding. Be sure to monitor the latest forecasts and statements. Be ready to take action by moving to higher ground if flooding is observed or if a flood warning is issued.

For New Jersey, A High Wind Warning is in effect until 5:00am Sunday.

The national Weather Service in Mount Holly, NJ has issued the high wind warning. Low pressure lifting out of maryland this afternoon will intensify as it lifts into maine by daybreak sunday. Very strong winds are forecast to develop in the wake of the low.

Sustained winds of 35 to 40 mph and gusts up to around 60 mph are anticipated over the warning area, when winds are at their worst tonight. Winds of this strength can knock down trees and power lines and result in power outages, especially given the saturated ground due to the rains from this exiting storm system.

Driving will become hazardous due to the wind...particularly for high profile vehicles. Remember...winds are typically strongest on bridges and other elevated structures. Avoid driving if you can.

Please secure any loose outdoor objects that may be blown about by strong winds.

A high wind warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
