A public celebration was hosted on September 29, 2007 at the Donald E. DeVore Fire Training Center on Hamilton Street to welcome Port Jervis Fire Department’s newest apparatus into service. Members of Delaware Engine Co. No. 2 hosted the traditional wet down and were very pleased with the attendance and overall event.

Dominic Cicalese, chief driver and chairman of the truck’s Planning Committee, said his company’s celebratory day went even better than expected.
“All Port Jervis units were in attendance, along with many others,” said Cicalese. “Everything went smoothly, and all of the comments we received were positive. It was a good day.”
Besides attendance by Port's units, Cicalese noted visiting units included:
From Orange County, New York: Middletown, Bullville, Coldenham, New Hampton, Huguenot, Cuddebackville, Sparrowbush and Johnson Fire Departments.
From Pike County, Pennsylvania: Delaware, three units from Matamoras, and two units each from Westfall and Hemlock Fire Departments.
From Sussex County, New Jersey: Montague, Colesville and Wantage Fire Departments.
The new KME pumper, nicknamed “the deuce”, arrived in Port Jervis at the end of August. It features a 1000-gallon tank, a 2000-gallons-per-minute pump and an enclosed pump panel. It has three 1- 3/4" discharges and two 2-1/2" discharges. The city's centennial painting is also embedded as a glow-in-the-dark image across the vehicle's back panel.
With the star apparatus stationed on a blacktopped heliport area at the event, horns, emergency lights and life-saving hoses were activated to welcome it into service. Many of the emergency volunteers took advantage of the warm day and a beautiful rainbow that appeared over the area to soak the vehicle—and also themselves.

Music, keepsake shirts and mugs, hot dogs, hamburgers and beverages were available throughout the day, along with a mid-afternoon pig roast.
